Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is a large international company that designs, manufactures and markets heavy equipment for construction and related industries. Volvo CE belongs to the Volvo Group, which is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial engines. Volvo CE has an entire product line of machines including excavators, wheel loaders, articulated haulers, skid steers, compact track loaders, asphalt pavers, compactors, pipelayers, and demolition equipment. Volvo Construction Equipment is entering the 50-ton class for excavators with two models — the EC530E and EC550E — that have digging and lifting forces normally found in 60-ton machines, giving contractors the performance they need to excel in heavy-duty digging, mass excavation and large-scale site preparation. Volvo CE is adding to its demolition lineup with the new 38-ton EC380E Straight Boom excavator, which replaces the traditional boom-and-stick approach with a 23-foot straight boom and purpose-built arm. This custom-built excavator offers a significant height advantage over standard models along with outstanding reach, stability, cab protections and durability, making it an ideal choice for those working in tough demolition applications. Volvo Construction Equipment has redefined its Compact Assist offering for asphalt compactors with the launch of a new entry-level package. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to customer productivity, Volvo CE has introduced Compact Assist Start, a new introductory package of their Intelligent Compaction system, Compact Assist. Volvo Construction Equipment is boosting its compact excavator range in North America with two new short-swing models: the ECR50 and ECR58. The 5-ton ECR50 is a new entry for Volvo in North America, while the 6-ton ECR58 gains performance updates from the contractor-favorite D-series model. With a rear swing of 5 feet 1 inch and a front swing of 5 feet 11 inches, the EWR130E has the shortest swing radius in the 12- to 13-ton range. When coupled with new four-wheel steering and in-line outrigger options, the result is a machine that is easy to control and stable. Volvo Construction Equipment has unveiled the EX03, the company’s first electric prototype in the mid-size excavator range. With low noise, zero exhaust emissions and reduced maintenance needs, the EX03 represents the future for safer and more environmentally responsible construction sites. Volvo Construction Equipment has released the all-new EW200E Material Handler, aimed at the light waste handling segment. Its bigger brother — the EW240E Material Handler — is updated with a longer boom. Both give customers new options for waste and recycling applications. Volvo Construction Equipment has updated its Dig Assist machine control application for excavators with new features that make it even faster and easier to create plans and put more information at operators’ fingertips. Volvo Construction Equipment has introduced a new attachment kit that allows 14-ton excavators to be converted into rotating pipelayers, offering a simple solution for users who don’t want to buy a dedicated pipelayer and who have been using conventional excavators for the work. Volvo Construction Equipment is making its Load Assist machine control applications compatible on a wider range of Volvo CE wheel loaders, from the L60H to the L350H, and is introducing several new Load Assist applications. Furthermore, Volvo is launching several productivity and serviceability enhancements to those same machines. A high-speed driveline option is now available on Volvo Construction Equipment L45H and L50H compact wheel loaders, which more than doubles top speeds from 12 mph (20 km/h) to 31 mph (50km/h). This allows the machines to travel more quickly between jobsites and can also reduce cycle times. Volvo Construction Equipment is proud to launch Volvo Active Control, an automated grading machine control system, now available on the EC220E, EC250E and EC300E crawler excavators in North America. The system allows operators to get the right depth and angle easily, reducing grading times by up to 45%. Volvo Construction Equipment is bringing back its popular Million Ton Guarantee, a North American after-purchase program that gives customers of Volvo 7000 Series asphalt pavers manufacturer support for the replacement of auger and conveyor system wear parts over a five-year period. For Volvo CE and customers as well, machine uptime is of the utmost importance. Since the launch of ActiveCare Direct, Volvo has improved their ability to catch machine problems before they crop up. So far, two years of hard work put into improving uptime services have seen quantifiable improvements, such as: Registration is now open for Volvo Construction Equipment's 2019-2020 Road Institute. This program is the paving industry’s premier operator and technician training opportunity which offers value to both veterans and newcomers alike. The courses will run from November 2019 through May 2020, offering a combination of classroom and hands-on training on a variety of maintenance and operations concepts.Â
